AB: TES instrument on Aura satellite provides nadir retrievals of tropospheric CO along with ozone and other atmospheric constituents. This paper presents the status of TES CO validations, the comparisons of TES CO with other satellite and aircraft measurements and with model simulations. In addition to the common problems in these comparisons, e.g., time/location coincidences, we will demonstrate the roles of nadir retrieval characteristics (e.g., the averaging kernel and a priori) on the comparisons and their implications in data applications. A summary of the availability of TES CO nadir data will be given.
