The tropospheric ozone residual method is used to derive tropospheric ozone columns for the summer of 2005 based on the
stratospheric ozone columns from Microwave Limb Sounder (MLS) measurements and the total ozone columns from Ozone Monitoring
Instruments (OMI) measurements on NASA's Aura Mission. The results are evaluated by comparisons with available concurrent
ozonesonde measurements. The results are then compared with regional air quality forecast model results over the United
States and its surrounding oceans for summer 2005. Discrepancies will be discussed and the use of Aura tropospheric ozone
columns in chemical forecasting for the United States will be addressed.
