AB: Measurements of a variety of halocarbon and hydrocarbon trace gases were made from samples collected from the WB-57 aircraft and from a balloon borne cryogenic air sampler in several campaigns in support of AURA Validation and related science. In addition to direct validation of selected trace gases measured from the AURA instruments, the measurements of the various long and short-lived halocarbons and hydrocarbons are being used to examine convective redistribution of reactive gases, the sources and budgets of halocarbons in the UT/LS, and temporal trends and distributions of hydrochlorofluorcarbons (HCFCs) in the lower stratosphere. Selected examples from the tropical upper troposphere (PreAVE), the midlatitude UT/LS (June-AVE), and from the midlatitude stratosphere (Fort Sumner) will be presented.
