of Mineral Dust Aerosol on Climate

Mineral dust aerosol can impact climate through scattering and absorption of solar radiation, nucleating clouds and ocean
CO2 production through Fe-containing mineral dust deposition. Atmospheric processing or aging of mineral dust through
heterogeneous chemical reactions will alter how these particles impact climate. Laboratory studies can provide a framework
in which to understand impact of mineral dust on global processes and how this may change upon atmospheric aging. Some
recent measurements on the optical properties, hygroscopicity and CCN activity of mineral dust and reacted mineral dust will
be discussed.
