Due to its high solubility in water, nitric acid is generally thought to deposit in ecosystems. However, both upward and
downward fluxes of the sum of HNO3 gas and NH4NO3 aerosol have been observed by eddy covariance coupled to
thermal dissociation-laser induced fluorescence over Blodgett Forest, a mid-elevation Ponderosa pine plantation in the Sierra
Nevada's. We analyze cospectra and power spectra from these measurements to gain insight into the scales of
turbulence and processes controlling the observed fluxes.
