The ICARTT-ITOP mission (International Consortium for Atmospheric Research on Transport and Transformation - Intercontinental
Transport of Ozone and Precursors programme) in July/August 2004 focused on the effects of transcontinental transport of
chemicals between North America and Europe. While various aircrafts involved in this project collected samples along the
north-east US corridor and over the Atlantic the DLR Falcon carried out several flights off the Western European coast.
Aboard the aircraft a broad suite of instrumentation was installed for collecting samples in photochemically aged air masses
masses reaching the European continent.
This contribution focuses on DLR Falcon missions carried out on July 25 and 26, 2004. On both days the same air masses could
be sampled. The origin of these air masses were attributed to the main source area of New York and Boston. This presentation
shows results of trace gas measurements sampled during both flights and discusses the photochemical processing of this plume.
