We present a parameterization of the steady state formation rate of supercritical H2O/H2SO_4 aerosol from
neutral and ion-induced nucleation. Parameters are temperature, relative humidity, concentration of sulfuric acid,
preexisting aerosol condensational sink, and ionization rate. Laboratory thermodynamics for the growth and evaporation of
charged, and modified liquid drop thermodynamics for the growth and evaporation of neutral H2O/H2SO_4
clusters are used in our parameterization, respectively. Our parameterization considerably reduces the computational effort
for determining supercritical H2O/H2SO_4 aerosol formation rates compared with their detailed calculation
and is hence suited for use in large-scale models.
