AB: We present the first view of the zonal distribution of tropospheric ozone in the Southern Hemisphere tropics for 2004-2005 derived from observations taken by the Tropospheric Emission Spectrometer (TES). TES was launched as a part of the NASA Aura spacecraft in July 2004, and started taking data in September, 2004. The amplitude of the so-called zonal wave-one pattern is quantified in Fall 2004 and compared with the zonal structure of ozone in Winter 2005. Comparisons are made to past and present sonde observations of the zonal distribution of ozone derived from the SHADOZ network. We also compare the zonal distribution of ozone to that of CO.
