Significant amplification of runaway breakdown (RB) when the cosmic ray particle moves across the thundercloud electric field
is established. Due to this runaway breakdown -- extensive atmospheric shower (RB-EAS) discharge lead to nonlinear
saturation of electric current. These conditions are fulfilled for thunderstorm at tropospheric heights for narrow bipolar
pulse discharges (NBP). The results of measurements are compared with the modified theoretical approach. A reasonable
agreement between the theory and observations of NBP is demonstrated.
