We investigate use of the Kalman filter (including non-linear variants) for estimating parameters in biogeochemical models by
the assimilation of remotely sensed data. We will describe calculations with simple test models, followed by an application
of the Kalman filter to remotely sensed data, leading towards multi-constraint estimation of water and carbon budgets.
