TI: Graphical Representation of Snow Pit Data from CLPX

AB: Researchers have collected data from snow pits for well over a century, yet no single consistent manner for presenting this information has been devised. In the Cold Land Processes Experiment data were obtained from nearly 2000 snow pits as part of several different data collection efforts. To facilitate intercomparison and to effectively display this large amount of data, we built on several existing data presentation methods and developed a graphical method for presenting data from each snow pit. These snow-pit graphics can help users identify potential trends, anomalies, and select appropriate data for their particular application. Several sets of graphics are presented to illustrate these concepts.
