AB: Based on the UK mesoscale numerical weather prediction (NWP) model run by the UK Met Office, a set of mapping functions for GNSS data processing is derived. Starting from gridded meteorological information (0.11 x 0.11 degree on 13 pressure levels) a refractivity box model is computed thus allowing ray-tracing. For a specific location and time, a series of azimuth and elevation angle dependent mapping coefficients are computed. Time, azimuth and elevation angle increments being so that interpolation between is possible. Results will compare such regional NWP model based mapping functions to the ones traditionally used in GNSS data processing. The impact on GPS processing will be assessed using a subset of the 100+ stations UK CGPS network, with emphasis placed on the elimination of the assumption that the atmosphere is azimuthally symmetric.
