Since several years, the ESGT reseach team is involved in crustal deformation studies. Since 2005, the laboratory is involved
in a combined geodetic/seismologic study in the Reykjanes Peninsula, Iceland, in association with the LGRMP (Laboratoire de
G‚odynamique des Rifts et des Marges Passives, Le Mans, France), the EOST (Ecole et Observatoire des Sciences de la Terre,
Strasbourg, France), the IMO (Icelandic Meteorological Office, Iceland), and the NORDVULK (Nordic Volcanological Center,
Iceland). The objectives are to characterize and to modelize on several time scales the fault segment activity an active
volcanic rift. From April to August 2005, a first combined geodetic and seismologic campaign took place in order to show the
relation between the volcanologic, the micro-seismologic activities and the crustal deformation of the rift segments. In
addition to ~20 seismographs, five small geodetic networks (200 x 200 m) were set up along the rift and observed with
tacheometers each week.
In this contribution, we focus on the geodetic part of the campaign. We first present the geodetic networks and the reference
frame setting used. Then, we descibe the processing strategy, show first results of the observed crustal deformations, and
time series analysis.
