Unlike many previous studies, this research uses daily raingage data to evaluate the NEXRAD product over a wide range of
spatial and temporal scales. The advantages of daily gages for this purpose are twofold. First, the daily gage data used
are not incorporated in the NEXRAD multisensor product, thus permitting an independent evaluation. Second, there are far
more daily, non-recording gages in the Missouri River Basin. This effort compares gage and radar estimates using both point
and spatially interpolated gage fields.
