AB: It was carried out the analysis of palaeomagnetic characteristics of the sediments from different regions of the Barents Sea (the Arctic Ocean). To study the palaeomagnetic characteristics, the bottom sediments were taken during voyages of the R/V "Academician Sergei Vavilov"(1998) and R/V "Academician Karpinsky"(2000). It was studied 1185 samples from 13 cores of sediments. The data obtained demonstrate the presence of geomagnetic excursion Sterno-Etrussia (2,200-3,000 BP) and Solovki (4,500-7,000 BP) in the Holocene sediments, excursion Gothenburg (12,000-13,000 BP) close to Holocene-Pleistocene boundary, and excursion Mono (26,000-29,000 BP) in Late Pleistocene sediments. The geomagnetic excursions manifested in the 10 cores. Sharp change in magnetic susceptibility at Holocene-Pleistocene boundary in 11 cores, where the H-P boundary had been fixed, testifies to response of magnetic characteristics of sediments on climatic changes. It was discovered the periodicity of inclination change (T~ 15,000 years) in the Late Pleistocene, that give the information on displacement of geomagnetic pole during this period.
