AB: Improved quantification of the energy, moisture, and momentum fluxes at the land atmosphere interface is critical to studies in hydrology, meteorology, and biogeosciences. Evapotranspiration (ET) is a key component of these fluxes, governing the amount of available water. In this study, we compare the ET observations and energy balance over corn and grass during two growing seasons. The ET for corn during the 2004 and 2005 growing seasons were observed as part of the second and fourth Microwave Water and Energy Balance Experiments (MicroWEX-2 and 4). The ET at a near-by grass site was observed during the same time. This study examines the variation in the ET during the two growing seasons, given the significant differences in the micrometeorological conditions between the two growing seasons.
