It has been reported that in a warmer future climate with increased greenhouse gases, there is a decrease in precipitation
frequency and an increase in precipitation intensity. We used the outputs from current climate models for IPCC 4th assessment
report and found that, although all the models show the increased precipitation intensity under SRESB1 and SRESA1B, some
models show the increased precipitation frequency too. For different categories of precipitation amount, there are big
differences in changes in precipitation frequency and intensity between the models. However, all the models show an increase
in frequency of heavy (20-50mm day-1) and very heavy (>50 mm day-1) precipitation. The multi-model ensembles show different
patterns for the change in precipitation intensity and frequency for different precipitation categories.
