AB: The Winter 2005 meeting of the Federation for Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP) marked a departure from past meetings by having an explicit technical focus, with four technical tracks covering two days producing summary information about technologies and standards of use to the Federation membership and external organizations. This presentation provides the summaries developed by each of the four track leaders. The four topic areas for which there were tracks developed were: Data discovery at the inventory level; Data access client/server implementations; Data access standards and protocols; and Web and grid services. The provided summaries include a discussion of the issues relating to each of these topic areas, an overview description of applicable technologies, an evaluation of how well those technologies relate to the identified issues, and recommendations to federation members, the Foundation for Earth Science, and NASA.
