TI: Distribution of Earthquake Jumps and Diffusion of Seismic Activity

AB: Earthquake jumps are defined simply as the distances between consecutive earthquakes. Probability distributions of earthquake jumps are calculated for a worldwide catalog as well as for local catalogs, and a double power-law behavior is found when the seismic rate is stationary. This distribution, together with a previously proposed distribution of recurrence times can be used to characterize earthquake diffusion.
