TI: Self-similarity in seismic catalogs from Spain

The unifying concept underliying fractals, chaos, and power laws is self-similatiry. It is one of the decisive symmetries
that shape our universe and our efforts to comprehend it. Several scaling relations have been found in seismicity, such as
the well-known Gutenberg-Richter relationship.
In this work, we use some catalogs from Spain (for the whole
Iberian Peninsula, the Betic region, Catalonia and Cadiz) and calculate the frequency-magnitude relation, as well as some
fractal dimensions (spatial and temporal), and a new one, the Species-Area Relationship, which relates the amount of
different earthquakes found in a particular area. After
that, we find some relationships between them, which are in agreement with the tectonic setting and underliying physics.
