Low--frequency, large--amplitude solar wind fluctuations and their spatial/temporal evolution represents a complex
phenomenon not yet fully understood. On the other hand, almost three decades of data collected in the interplanetary medium
at different solar distances and latitudes, together with sophisticated computer
simulations, allowed us to reconstruct in some detail the phenomenology which accompanies the turbulent evolution
of these fluctuations. Moreover, new interesting insights in the theory of turbulence have been obtained, in the
past decade, from the point of view which considers a turbulent flow as a complex system, where chaotic behavior
and well established scaling laws coexist. This presentation aims to provide a quick overview on the state of art in this
relatively new approach, within the context of solar wind, to the study of turbulence.
