AB: Long time evolution of monochromatic large amplitude circularly polarized Alfven waves in a relativistic pair plasma is investigated by utilizing one- and two-dimensional full particle simulation codes. Amplitude of magnetic field of a parent wave normalized to ambient magnetic field is a key parameter. Relativistic effects become important as the normalized amplitude increases. In one-dimensional runs, the decay instability following on the modulational instability are observed both in nonrelativistic and relativistic cases. In the latter case, it is observed that strong particle acceleration perpendicular to the ambient magnetic field takes place through relativistic wave-particle interactions. Effects of two-dimensionality are also discussed.
