AB: The behavior of the Middle Atlantic Bight shelfbreak front is examined using the high-resolution NCEP North Atlantic Ocean Forecasting system (NAOFS). The strength and variability of the shelfbreak front is quantified to obtain better understanding of the characteristics of the shelfbreak front. We compare the flows in the shelfbreak region to observations as well as climatology. The results show that the seasonal transition as well as the general characteristics of shelfbreak front is very well described by the North Atlantic Ocean Forecasting system.
