TI: A theory of microbarom radiation into atmosphere and ocean

AB: It is known that excited sea states radiate a narrow band of infrasound, centered at about 0.2 Hz and generally referred to as the microbarom peak, into the atmosphere and ocean. A two fluid model, air over sea water with a moving interface, is considered. The source strengths for atmospheric and oceanic microbarom radiation are obtained. The mechanism for radiation into the atmosphere is shown to be different from that for radiation into the sea. The ratio of the recieved atmospheric and oceanic microbarom signals are shown to be independent of the sea state which produced them.
