ESA's SMART-1 mission to test advanced technology for future missions, launched at the end of 2004, has successfully reached
its destination, the Moon. Among the technology payload is SIR, a compact grating, near-infrared spectrometer, which covers
the wavelength range between 0.9 and 2.45 μm, with a spectral resolution of Δλpixel = 6 nm. SIR,
originally developed to test and space qualify a lightweight, miniaturized NIR-spectrometer type, has now collected an
interesting data set along its elliptical orbit from the near and far side of the Moon. We will show some of the results of
the first targets which were selected for observation by SIR.
