We present measurements of the concentration ratio and isotopic composition of O2 and N2 in trapped air of the EPICA Dome C
(EDC) ice core, and discuss their implications for the EDC timescale. As of this writing, 81 depths between 300 and 700 ka
(2482.7 and 3099.8 m) have been analyzed. Comparison with published Vostok data between 300 and 410 ka indicates very good
agreement in d18Oatm and similar trends in dO2/N2 between the two cores. The available d18Oatm measurements older than 430 ka
indicate the presence of a strong precession signal, and will be used to improve the inverse glaciological dating of the EDC
core.
