In situ solar wind composition provides information about the coronal origins of the solar wind plasma. Interplanetary
coronal mass ejections (ICMEs), in particular, often contain enhancements in compositional quantities such as charge state
ratios and heavy ion abundances, which indicate the CME plasma accesses the low corona and is significantly heated during the
transit through the upper corona. On average, these enhancements weakly correlate with associated flare magnitudes and the
enhancements tend to be observed more often in ICMEs which originate near central longitudes. Within a given ICME, the
composition can vary dramatically. Enhancements may appear for short periods within an ICME or extend beyond the designated
ICME boundaries (as determined by counterstreaming electrons or magnetic field measurements). We examine the time profiles
of several ICME parameters and compare the variations to predictions from CME initiation models.
