AB: A moderate aperture ground-based coronagraph and an imaging infrared spectropolarimeter have provided our first direct longitudinal coronal magnetograms. This talk will describe the advantages and subtleties of these techniques for direct coronal magnetometry. We also summarize some of the diagnostic potential of current and likely future IR spectropolarimetric instruments (like the Advanced Technology Solar Telescope) for measuring the properties of the near-solar plasma.
