AB: On 14 August 2004 there was a conjunction between the Cluster spacecraft, Double Star TC1 and the ground magnetometer stations from AARI in Russia. In a previous paper [Volwerk et al., 2005, Ann. Geophys., in press], it has been shown that first TC1 (at x = -10 Re) and 29 minutes later Cluster (at x = -15 Re) enter a plasma flow channel. All spacecraft and the ground based magnetometers showed ULF wave activity at a period of approximately 5 minutes. The waves in the flow channel change mode travelling between Cluster and TC1. In this paper we further analyze the flow channel and these ULF waves, using the magnetometer and plasma data from Cluster and TC1. We will identify the wave modes using the technique proposed by Song et al. [1994] and will look into the wave generation and wave mode conversion mechanisms.
