Reconnection occurs at multiple locations within the toroidal plasmas produced in the Madison Symmetric Torus reversed field
pinch experiment. The reconnection is bursty in time and is accompanied by many global changes in the plasma including
strong heating of plasma ions. Measurements near the reconnection current sheets indicate that two-fluid effects are
important. In particular, Faraday rotation measurements in the hot core and magnetic probe measurements in the edge both
confirm that the Hall effect driven by the JxB/en term in the generalized Ohm's law is large. Although this term is large,
it appears to be spatially localized near the reconnection current sheet, in qualitative agreement with a quasilinear theory
for tearing fluctuations in our system.
