AB: We explore the solar wind-magnetosphere-ionosphere coupling with results from simulations using the Lyon-Fedder-Mobarry global MHD code. We present results of transpolar potential saturation in this code and compare them with the Hill model for a set of idealized solar wind conditions. We also find a hemispheric asymetry in the potential. We will discuss the implications of this in terms of the saturated potential.
