AB: During the five last years, four hydraulic stimulations were carried out at the geothermal site of Soultz-sous-Forêts (France). In order to monitor the seismic activity induced by the massive injection of fluid, we have installed for each stimulation a surface seismic network composed of at least 13 seismological stations. Every hydraulic experiment has induced more than 3000 micro-earthquakes. A large part of them has been processed automatically in order to follow the large scale structure of the geothermal reservoir. In this study, we present and analyse the microseismic activity of magnitude, M_d, from 1.4 to 2.9. These values correspond to the least magnitude felt by the population and the largest seismic event ever produced since the beginning of the project in 1987, respectively. For this range of magnitude, the micro-earthquakes have been manually picked in order to have a higher precision. This analysis is thus achieved via the location and the focal mechanism of each event. We will point out the view of the seismic activity based on the data from the surface seismological network. We propose a comparison of the behaviour of the large magnitude seismicity during these four stimulations and bring out the common trends. The results clearly show the role of the large structures on the circulation of the fluid within the reservoir. Consequently the behaviour of the heat exchanger is mainly ruled by pre-existing tectonic structures. However the real influence of the fluid on the generation of large seismic event is still misunderstood but our observations can give some informative clues.
