AB: TES is one of four instruments on board the Aura spacecraft, launched on July 16, 2004. TES is an infrared Fourier transform spectrometer with a pointing system that allows staring at individual ground locations in the nadir view. The first spectra from TES were obtained in late August, and a special observation period in September will focus on the south central Atlantic. Data quality of these observations is analyzed with respect to several parameters determined from level 2 processing. Data quality parameters include retrieval success, residuals, chi-square (residuals normalized to NESR), number of degrees of freedom of data and number of degrees of freedom of noise. We will present and discuss initial data quality information from these observations.
