The North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) is the leading mode of variability of the extratropical atmospheric circulation in the
Atlantic region. In the current work, we employ the Polar MM5 mesoscale atmospheric model to study NAO-related climate
variability over the Greenland ice sheet. Emphasis is placed on assessing the relative importance of ice sheet topography,
sea surface temperature and sea ice in generating the climatic signature of the NAO in this region. Implications for future
climate change are also discussed.
