Large, extended fault systems are known to demonstrate complex space-time seismicity patterns which include, but are not
limited to, repetitive events, precursory activity and quiescence, and aftershock sequences. Here we compare the results of
an in-depth study of the southern California fault system using a pattern informatics (PI) analysis of seismicity, GPS
measurements, and sequential InSAR images of the same region. The PI methodology (Tiampo et al., 2002) has been employed in
the past to isolate emergent regions of coherent, correlated seismicity prior to their occurrence. Here it is associated
with regions of anomalous stress and strain that can be quantified with local and regional geodetic measurements.
