From August, 2003 to January, 2004, we conducted hydrographic observations along the WHP P6, A10, I4 and I3 lines in the
Southern Hemisphere subtropical oceans as part of the CLIVAR/CO$_{2}$ Repeat Hydrography Program. The main target of the
observations was to quantify uptake, transport and storage of anthropogenic CO$_{2}$ by Southern Ocean-origin waters. On
board the ship (R/V Mirai), we measured pCO$_{2}$ in surface seawater, and dissolved inorganic carbon (C$_{T}$), total
alkalinity (A$_{T}$) and pH in water columns. Precision was calculated to be 1.5-1.0 $\mu$mol/kg, 2.0 $\mu$mol/kg and
0.0017-0.0008 pH unit for C$_{T}$, A$_{T}$ and pH, respectively. Both C$_{T}$ and A$_{T}$ were set to the certified values of
CRM (Bach 65) provided by Dr. A.G. Dickson of Scripps Institution of Oceanography. The accuracy was estimated to be approx.
3 $\mu$mol/kg, 3 $\mu$mol/kg and 0.008 pH unit for C$_{T}$, A$_{T}$ and pH, respectively, by comparing measured and
calculated values, which were based on the thermodynamic relationship of oceanic carbonate system. We intend to detect
decadal changes of transport and storage of CO$_{2}$ in the ocean_s interior by calculating the differences of
CO$_{2}$-system properties and anthropogenic CO$_{2}$ tracers between 1990s and 2003/2004.
At the time of presentation, we will discuss the decadal changes from the viewpoint of global climate change.
