TI: GPS Occultation Measurements of Mid-Latitude Scintillation

AB: The GPS occultation remote sensing technique has been previously demonstrated to observe scintillations in the equatorial region. These observations appear as rapid fluctuations in the C/A code signal to noise ratio (SNR) during an occultation event. While the equatorial regions possess the highest scintillation levels, occasional mid-latitude SNR fluctuations are also observed, at lower levels of S4, and at times having different characteristics than their low-latitude counterparts. We present a survey of these mid-latitude events using data from the Ionospheric Occultation Experiment (IOX) and the CHAMP satellite.
