AB: The UAF Polar Ionosphere Model has been used to simulate the spatial and temporal changes of the high-latitude northern ionosphere during the geomagnetically active period of October-November 2003. The results illustrate the highly variable ionospheric structure and dynamics. Model results have also been compared with 2-dimensional tomography data obtained in the Alaskan meridian. Previous work with this model during geomagnetically quiet times has shown very good agreement between model and data. This study has provided an opportunity to compare the model with data during a more disturbed period.
