AB: In April and May, 2007, the Pacific Dust Experiment explored transpacific transport of gas and aerosol species, with a focus on interactions of air parcels with clouds. Plumes containing dust and anthropogenic signatures were tracked from Tokyo to the North American West coast in order to study the evolution of composition. As a starting point in analysis of this data set, gas phase tracer fields are analyzed to identify intervals of free tropospheric long-range transport of relatively unreactive and insoluble gas phase constituents from Asian to North American mid-latitudes.
