AB: A static diffusion chamber has been used to grow ice crystals at temperatures between -70 C and -85 C under controlled conditions of temperature, pressure, and ice supersaturation. Growth conditions for Type 1 polar stratospheric cloud and tropical cirrus particles have been simulated. Linear, projected area, and volume growth rates are presented. Martian ice crystal simulations may also be presented.
