The city of Lagos, Nigeria is the second most populated city in Africa and by 2020 is likely to be the most
populated. During the AMMA campaign in 2006 the UK BAe146 aircraft flew an orbit around the city observing the
concentration of key photo-pollutants. This allowed the fluxes and thus emissions from the city to be calculated.
We calculate CO, NOx and VOC emissions to be on the order of 1 Tg (CO) yr-1, 0.01 Tg (N) yr-1, 0.2 Tg (VOC) yr-1
respectively. Based upon a principal components analysis of the observations we split the emissions due to
evaporative, low temperature combustion and high temperature combustion.
