TI: Cloud Impact on Radiative Heating Rates in the Tropical Tropopause Layer Based on the CALIPSO Cloud Observations

AB: Radiative heating rates reveal the process of the tropical upwelling in the tropical tropopause layer. In this study, we use radiative transfer calculations to derive the radiative energy budget in the tropical tropopause layer, employing balloon-borne measurements of temperature, ozone and water vapor from the SHADOZ and the cloud field retrieved from the CALIPSO cloud observations. We will focus on the impact of thin cirrus clouds on the radiative heating rates between 14 and 19 kilometers.
