AB: We introduce and utilize a combination of old and new geo-spatial analysis methods to derive and synthesize ice- elevation changes, ice-mass changes and changes in the dynamics of a glacier, with the objective of exploiting remote-sensing data as indicators of geophysical processes of cryospheric change. Data types include ICESat, Cryosat, radar altimetry, multispectral image data and videographic data. The geographic objectives of our paper are Pine Island Glacier in the Amundsen Sea Embayment (West Antarctica) and Jakobshavns Isbrae (West Greenland), both rapidly changing outlet glaciers, which follow geological troughs. Glaciological conclusions derived in ongoing projects and outlooks for future studies will be presented.
