AB: The hydraulic tomography is emerging technique for subsurface characterization. In order to analyze the field scale subsurface problems, we need to discretize the domain in finite number of elements. For the case of uniform grid pattern over the whole domain the elements under high head gradient are numerically treated same as the elements with smaller head gradient. In this study we analyze the effects of mesh refinement on the estimations of properties. We developed the adaptive mesh refinement algorithm and applied to the part of domain where high gradient is expected for the forward model and also for the sensitivity calculations in inverse algorithm (SSLE). The hydraulic tomography added with adaptive mesh refinement is applied to a synthetic case and to a sequential aquifer test at actual well field and results are discussed.
