AB: The Boreal Ecosystem Research and Monitoring Sites (BERMS) network of eddy-covariance flux towers is located in central Saskatchewan, Canada, near the southern limit of the boreal forest. The 1999-2006 study period includes three extreme drought years (2001-2003) followed by three extreme wet years (2004-2006). We analyze interannual variability in the water balance at stand and watershed scales and explore the coupling of the carbon and water cycles at three mature forest sites and one wetland site.
