Sediment transport and mass balances in mountain regions remain poorly
constrained although they are important issues for understanding mountain erosion and landscape evolution.
In order to setup a rational database on fluxes of sediment and hydraulics of flow in a mountain stream,
Sediment transport and Hydraulics of flow were surveyd along the Urumqi river a high mountain stream in the
tectonically active Tianshan mountains.
Survey took place during the summer high flow season of 2004, 2005 and 2006. Results are presented here with
special emphasis on
sampling procedure, mass budget and fractional transport of grains.
