AB: The Aura MLS instrument measures rotational emission of HO2 and OH in both day and night. For the first time, Aura measured these two radicals during solar proton events. Data using the new v2.2 version of the retrieval will be shown for several solar proton events. The observed concentration dependence on altitude is different for the two radicals. The observed morphology, but not the absolute values of concentration, agree with the TIME-GCM model.
