TI: Properties of the Density Structures associated with Strong Fields and Plasma Outflow within the Cusp/Cleft at 2 Re

AB: Strong electric fields and currents have been associated with ion outflow, higher temperatures, and density structures above the auroral ionosphere. Using observations from the Polar satellite as it traverses the cusp/cleft at 2 Re we will look at these same parameters within the coupled magnetospheric-ionospheric region and study the connection with previous observations from above the dayside aurora. In this narrow latitudinal region of direct solar wind plasma access, we will focus on the widths and other properties of the density depletions, elevated temperatures, and fluctuating fields.
