AB: The algorithm of aerosol optical thickness retrieval from MODIS over low reflective land surface is matured with good consistancy. But the retrieval of aerosol optical thickness over high reflective land surface is still very challenging. In this work, a simple algorithm is developed to retrieve aerosol optical thickness over the bright surfaces. The algorithm is applied over several different typical land surface, such as dark land surface, and bright land surface. The retrieved AOT is compared with the ground measurement from sun-track photometer. It shows that the algorithm can produce a reasonable estimate of the aerosol optical thickness.
