AB: We performed a series of tracer experiments in a sandbox. We changed the size of grain (small, medium and large) for each sand layer. We monitored the concentration of sodium chloride at 15 points to obtain the breakthrough curves. We found that the breakthrough behavior of the three cases is different from the results of the clasical advection-dispersion equation. We discuss the tailing phenomena of the experimental result together with a stochastic model of the flow.
